SMF For Free Chat

Someone gave me cool idea not sure how many would use it if I were to make it.
Basiclly I would make a chat program. Each forum would have its own chat channel. It would use your login information from your forum and have all your members tied to the chat system.
Still debating it.

Some might like the idea.   I doubt my members would use it.
My only concern would be it possibly slowing the server and the forums down.

Is this like a Chat Room? I have one but a SMF one would be great as it would be with the forum, i would use it and i reckon my users would to. Heres hoping there wont be adds after the msgs there  :D

I am using Cbox....which is a shoutbox and it works very well...but would be nice to see what you would come up with SMF.

It would be a desktop chat application. But this application gives me other ideas of things that I can do.
Maybe have desktop access to the latest personal messages in your account.
Get instant information about your forum.

It opens a lot of ideas. If you have any let me know. It would be a windows application that can interact and fetch data from your forum after you are logged in.

If you can do that it would be amazing. I'm sure you'd also publish it for SMF Hacks even if it wasn't toooo popular here. However I'm sure it would be used.

Could it also work on other OS's maybe? I'm sure we don't want to leave our Mac users/Linux users out.

Sounds amazing though. I'd love to see it put into effect. Sounds like fun.
