Title: /me function
Post by: gム尺y on July 11, 2008, 11:31:03 pm
Are you people aware of SMF'S default function? Its
Code: [Select]
/me do you know what that does? Well, instead of ''/me'' it will be your username.

Like this,  /me  looks at SMF FOR FREE

There is a problem with this, that is this won't work when you put in the middle of some text, like /me won't here. It will only work in the another line..Its hard for me to explain. Though I believe some of you might be knowing about this. Isn't this awesome?

No, I was just saying I find this available in several online games that have chat.  It's part of the css in a stylesheet on our forums.  You can see it if you go to modify your stylesheet.  I believe you can change the color on it to make it easier to see on different colored backgrounds.

/me likes this feature even if all you can do is start a sentence with it.

/me thinks it's really for an emote because that's what it's called.

like...
/me dances.

It shows your user name in red with an asterisk so it wouldn't work in the middle of a sentence like "/me"...

There's another way to do this.

Code: [Select]
[me=Omikron 9861]hurt his hand.[/me]
outputs as
/me hurt his hand.

Notice that although my name is Celebrus, it shows Omikron.

It is based on your original user name, not your display name.
