cool, thanks for the heads up :)

Your welcome. Now they are saying the landing may either have to be diverted to Edwards Air Force Base if they cant land at Kennedy Space Center on either of the two opportunities they will have tomorrow because of bad weather. They are calling for thunderstorms in that area in Florida.

First op: Deorbit burn scheduled for 12:50pm EDT - landing at 1:55pm EDT
Second op: Deorbit burn scheduled for 2:25pm EDT - landing at 3:30pmEDT

(deorbit burn....hehe I just love space talk! I am sooo addicted!  :D )

Just an update for everyone...

Since Atlantis had to "wash" both landing opportunities today at Kennedy, here are the projected landing sites/times for fri and sat. Atlantis only has enough power to stay up till Sunday.  :o

Quote
The first opportunity Friday is on Orbit 218 and calls for a deorbit burn at 1:12 p.m. The second is on Orbit 219, with the deorbit burn at 2:50 p.m. and landing at 3:55 p.m. at Kennedy.

If Florida weather does not cooperate, three opportunities are available at Edwards. The first is on Orbit 219. Thursday afternoon, the crew adjusted Atlantis’ orbit to set the stage for this opportunity, which has the deorbit burn occurring at 2:43 p.m. and landing at 3:49 p.m.

The second opportunity for the California base is on Orbit 220. The deorbit burn would occur at 4:18 p.m. and landing at 5:23 p.m. The final opportunity is one orbit later which calls for the deorbit burn to occur at 5:56 p.m. and landing at 6:59 p.m.

Friday’s weather forecast for Kennedy calls for the threat of thunderstorms in the area and high winds are a possibility at Edwards. Opportunities are also available Saturday.

~~UPDATE~~

The first op has just been been washed. Weather is still too bad in the 30 mile scope of the airfield for them to land. They are now looking towards the second scheduled attempt at Kennedy and also the 1st op at Edwards in California. Edwards has clear skies but they are concerned because winds are supposed to be picking up.

EDIT....they just did the deorbit burn and are on their way to Edwards Air Force Base in California - expected land time: 2:49 pm CST  :D
