I need help please! Either computer or camera!
« on: February 25, 2010, 05:03:57 pm »
I wasnt sure either to post it in chat or programming.  Windows media player problem.

Ok, well I am making advertisement video for my new clan.
So I record it, and I can watch it over and over on my camera.  It says error download codec.
Though videos thats arnt used by my camera on media players can be played.
I am also doing a Norton antivirus scan.  So far 1 infected.
Though when I fix that and its not a virus.  Then you guys got any idea?

It says download codec when you watch it on the computer?

That just means you don't have the right codec installed to play the video from the camera on your computer.

check out this link: wrong link.

The program listed toward the bottom (GSpot) will find the missing codec needed. Just follow the directions on the page. If you need more help with it just PM me or reply back here ;)

What file format is the video in?

Rather than messing around with codecs, i would honestly suggest downloading another media player. WMP tends to need codecs for just about everything and it became tedious quite quickly for myself.

I personally downloaded and use VLC Media player, it doesnt require codecs as often, and if it does, it tells you which you need and will also take you to a download page for the required codec.

VLC Media Player

I hope this helps.

I download GSpot and still nothing.  Also when I import that video on windows movie maker it says this.

C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\My Documents\My Videos\AK000004.AVI could not be imported. The required codec was not downloaded automatically because the Download codecs automatically check box is not selected in the Options dialog box.

Also its windows media player 11.

You have to run GSpot and put the file name of the video into the box that says "File name:" on the program.

There's a picture on the link I gave you.

When you do that, the rest of the boxes will automatically fill in. When they do take a screen shot and attach it ;)

Thanks.
