CreateAForum.com relaunched the site with a new design and will be under active development. I think the name is better and more brandable so hopefully it will do well.

Is it possible to do a forum transfer from a current forum here to Create A Forum? Or not because of the different versions?

If we switch over to CreateAForum.com do the things on here like the codes still work? Are we eligible to get the 100k posts thing still?

The most codes that work here will not work on the new version of smf.

Actually, many of the codes DO work. Like the swap images code used for your own rank images. And many others.

CSS does not though. So styles found on this support forum cannot be used for CAF forums.

I imagine that SMF would still give the 100k Posts prize thingy-mo-jig. (I can make up words like that) ;)

As the file structure, templates, css, etc has changed immensely with 2.0 there will be many of the codes posted here that will not work with the 2.0 software.   It'll be hit and miss and testing to know which ones will and won't.

True but some of them actually do. And others can be restructured to work with the new software. Right?

Yep -  those that do not would need to be reworked.

Actually this has me thinking about discussing something with SMF for Free - related to the many posts here lately from those using Create a Forum Forum's.   We do need to direct them to the appropriate support forum.    However -  when it comes to stylesheets they may like to see updated, or codes updated I'm a little stuck at the moment on how we really SHOULD handle that.   If they post over at Create A Forum asking for an update to a code or style posted here -  that means those that have created them would have to ALSO be using that support forum.   Gets abit confusing eh?   ;)      I'll toss him a note about this.

Will add to this -  I have NO plans to update all of the stylesheets I have created.   I do not have the time to do so.  I "might" on a case by case basis as I have the time but given Ive been using 2.0 myself for over a year now and knowing all the work involved -  its not something I can devote all of my time to right now.

Lol, yeah... It's supposed to be much harder making them on there than on here because CAF doesn't have some of the features the SMF has..

The only issue(s) I can really see with updating the stylesheets to work with 2.0 are learning 2.0's css, learning how the images are set up, what area's they effect.   It will be easier with the styles posted here that do not require header or footer codes for them to work.   Those that do require those codes will require more work and figuring out as the templates are different.   I plan to fool with a couple of mine this week (if I can find the free time) and see how that goes.  Once those that do them figure it all out I'm sure you'll see more posted there.   I could easily do several color changes, thats the easy part.  Re-arranging things, using headers/footers, is the difficult part to relearn but knowing the few style designers we have here they'll figure it out .   It's just gonna be a learning curve.
