Ok, I though about this, and I desided to bring it up.

I have had a kinda real SMF forum, but not really, and I know what the real SMF Admin page looks like.

I was thinking, why doesnt the Owner of SMF For Free do somthing similar to this?

Well you shouldent! You should make a new things on Admin page, like instead of note pad, make packages, or maybe a big clock or image uploader, ETC.....

I think that this would be way better than the boring Admin page currently. What does everyone say?

P.S. IF U DO MAKE PACKAGES, I SUGGEST THAT YOU DONT PUT TOO MUCH STUFF IN IT, IT WILL BECOME A SECURITY RISK!

fishy this is a free forum hosting service.

There are going to be things that you can not do that you can do if you download the software yourself and put it on a server and run it yourself.

FREE does not mean you get everything no matter how much you (in general) may wish to have it.

Our forums are using the "REAL"  simplemachines software.

Things are disabled in it by SMF and for good reason.   There are security and other reasons to NOT allow people using a hosted service to have  "it ALL"

I think we have exhausted this issue.

And so is this
Except it's extra easy.
SMF For Free makes installation of mods and packages like that simple point and click processes. However that requires a little modification to the software for it to happen. What we have here is those little tweaks.

Anyways, we've all got our answer to the suggestion. Sorry guys!

taking off my Mod hat here:

fishy until about 2 weeks ago I had an smf forum myself.   I had downloaded the software months and months ago, installed it and ran it for awhile.   It was never open to the public and was  there only as a learning experience.    I had no intention of moving my forum there as we would lose so much that we have built up for two years now and  its not worth it to do that.

To be honest the things SMF has added for us made it very easy to use.   For instance the way we can edit the Headers and Footers.   I have used 3 different hosting companys, different software, and had nothing but issues with the others.  (and alot less options)

The nice thing is that if something does mess up he CAN fix it and knows HOW to fix it.    Nice to run it for yourself but you then have yourself to figure out how to fix things when mods conflict,   when it crashes.    When things dont work correctly.

Mod hats back on:

As I said we have exhausted this issue.   He is not about to let us install our own mods, do many of the things you could do if you run it yourself.

Lets move on to other things.
