I Think we should get the shoutbox's like vbulletin, smf's reputation would be a little better with this, probally very hard to program ect but would be a good reputation and very helpful for members

yea this has bene up for discussion before

although like LL said it wouldnt be to good with smf support

this is a support forum and could you imagine the ammount of spam on the shoutbox

you would need like a 24/7 mod on there to clean it all up

This has been requested loads of time in the past, and I believe it's some issue with speed. I think SMF For Free would have better reputation if the forums loaded faster, not if it had a lot of fancy features that slows down forums.

Vbulletin is also kinda expensive I think?  Notice how it says "free" in our forums?  You can't have everything for nothing, unfortunately.

A shoutbox would not be a good thing for here.  Too many opportunities for spam and potty mouth.

vBulletin causes a lot of load on servers. A lot of hosts don't allow you to use it. I wasn't talking about loading up slow from a bandwidth perspective, from a server one.
If you want a shoutbox, you could always get one from those free shoutbox providers.

Shout/Chat Boxes normally require a database.    Databases do cause a server load, and it could slow our forums down.   There are many good, free shoutbox, chatboxes out there that you can use on your own forums.

I dont "think" this suggeston was meant as a suggestion to have one here on support.   (and if it was my opinion is also that would be a huge mistake)
