Hi! Please offer some of your words of advice, for i've searched hours and not found much.
My dilemma is in altering individual pages on smf. All I've found are ways to do that in code only. Im not much of a php programmer, so it's not happening so far.
All i need at the moment is to be able to add an image onto the index.php page, on a basic one of the themes.
Is the only way through typing in php? or are there easier ways?

Edited your SMF For Free forum isn't done with PHP. All scripting must be done without server side scripting.

Unfortunately your limits to modifying the look of the forum are limited to the CSS file, and the headers and footers as well as other basics such as adding and editing boards.

lunchgrabber...   just to check..  do you have a forum with the SMF for Free service or are you running an smf forum on your own.      Support here is for forums hosted by the SMF for Free service only so if its on your own you would need to go to simplemachines.org for support
