A friend is looking to make a change from his current vBulletin forum to smf. He is wondering if this can be done here fairly easily or if it might be better to start from scratch.

Hi there,

My forum has been inactive for quite some time. I had a godaddy domain www.cieducation.info but let it expire. My problem now is that I would like to access the forum and play around with it a bit more. However, I cannot remember the password I used. As well I will need to go back to free hosting with you.

Thanks in advance,

Kris

I've recently wondered the same thing. I can find where to get the version of EZPortal I use (admin>Under EZ Portal click "settings") but haven't found or can't remember where to find the version of smf I am using.

Kris
We upgrade it for you.
I built ezPortal so when I think it is a good upgrade I upgrade the forums.

Awesome. Thanks.

Was looking at installing the "Badges" you have mentioned in the announcements section. Instructions are "To install and enable this system go to the admin panel and click on the Badges link" but I don't see an option there yet. Am I safe in assuming that SMF is yet to add it for all forums to install.

I think the godaddy site might be a bit different than when you link was posted.  Here are the steps I followed.

Step 1: Login to Godaddy
Step 2: Click My Account
Step 3: Under Domains Click Launch
Step 4: Click the Domain Name
Step 5: Click the Stack of Coins called Nameservers
Step 6: Click Set Nameservers
Step 7: Click on the I want to Park Domains Options, wait, then click ok.
Step 8: Scroll Down the Screen under DNS Manager and Click Launch
Step 9: Under the A (Host) Option click the Ip address where it says points to and make the change to the new ip address you gave
Step 10: Click Save
Step 11: Wait 24-48 Hours for the saved changes to take effect

Hope this helps someone else with my issue

Kris

***Thanks SMF for your help once again.

Can I use the same address for both nameservers because I am getting an error message for duplicate address when I try to replace ns1 and ns2 to the same address you gave. Or should I be using the forward option in nameservers section??

Quick Question as it has been quite some time since I dealt with this.

With the recent server upgrade and the need to update custom domain nameservers. Do I go into the Domain Manager (I use Godaddy) and change nameservers 1 and 2 from  NS1.CIEDUCATION.INFO and NS2.CIEDUCATION.INFO to 199.119.103.78 ?
