The Gallery is place to keep all your members, or your own favourite pictures in one place. Plus people canrate them, organize them or comment on them. (and much more) You have 25mb of space for your Gallery.
So here's your guide to getting yourself a working Gallery.
1) Goto the AdminCP -> Gallery Configuration and click Install. 2) Click on Gallery Configuration again
SETTINGS
Now you will be faced with an army of checkboxes and form. Let's sort through these and get them set accustomed to your personal tastes.
Max allowed image height: Maximum height of images allowed in the gallery Max allowed image width: Maximum width of images allowed in the gallery Max image filesize: Maximum Filesize of images in the gallery Images per page: Choose how many images you want shown per page Max thumbnail width: Maximum width of a thumbnail in the gallery(a smaller version of the picture) Max thumbnail height: Max height of thumbnails Max display Image Width: Max display Image Height: Max Category Image Width: Max Category Image Height: Display who is viewing a picture On a pictures page you can see near the bottom the words "0 Members and 0 Guests are viewing this picture." This is what checking this box enables Resize Images if too large Exactly what it says...if an image larger than your specified size is added the forum will resize it Display newest comments first. Self-explanitory. New comments, go at the top Show pictures ratings Again, self-explanitory Show top rated pictures on the main page On the main Gallery page(after clicking the gallery button) there will be a section added that displays images with the highest overall rating on your forum if you check this box Show the most recent images on the main page On the main Gallery page(after clicking the gallery button) there will be a section added that displays the newest images added to your forum if you check this box Show the most viewed images on the main page On the main Gallery page(after clicking the gallery button) there will be a section added that displays the most viewed images added to your forum if you check this box Show the most commented images on the main page Same as above, but the most commented Allow the user to toggle if comments can be shown on a picture or not Show total views Under each picture's thumbnail it will show the total views of the picture This entire area of this page is rather selfexplanitory. If you check the box it will show up under the thumbnail.
Save all this with the Save Settings button
Manage Categories
Here you can Add Categories for your Gallery, Delete them and edit them with their respective links. You can also edit the individual permissions for each category and reorder the categories with the [up] and [down] buttons.
Adding a Category: Click Add Category Parent Category: Choose a Parent Category or leave set to None Description: Type a description of the Category Gallery Icon Url: You can put a direct link to an image that you want to use as an icon for the Category if you wish or Upload Gallery Icon: Browse your computer to upload an image to use as an icon for the Category if you wish. Sort by: Use the dropdown box to choose how you want the images sorted Order: Choose Ascending or Descending Posting Options If you would like the images that are uploaded to this Category to also be posted in a Board on your forum: Boards Name: Use the dropdown box to choose the Boards Name Check the following as you wish: Fullsize image in posted topic Show link to main image page Lock Topic Click Add Category
Set Category Permissions
After you Add a Category you will be back at the Manage Categorys Page. Click the Permissions link across from the Category you just created. Here you set Permissions for your Membergroups. If you need anything answered specifically...just ask. At the end of these I usually include a FAQ, so I'll try to answer popular questions in there too.

The url icon is if you want to have an image for that category that is hosted somewhere and it will be next to category description on the main category display.

Everytime I upload the Image link then post it into the gallery URL, it won't add the picture for some reason. The add picture button didn't do anything. I kept clicking it and it wouldn't open up anything.

is there any limitation on gallery There is 5 meg of space, if that is what you are asking edit: limit has been changed to 25mb Is that 25 mb per person or per forum? for example MSN (which is closing) was 30 mg for managers who opened groups intially then smaller for others. Sibyl I think I want you on my msn or icq LOL Also Max allowed image height: Maximum height of images allowed in the gallery Max allowed image width: Maximum width of images allowed in the gallery Max image filesize: Maximum Filesize of images in the gallery Max thumbnail width: Maximum width of a thumbnail in the gallery(a smaller version of the picture) Max thumbnail height: Max height of thumbnails what sizes are realistic (math challenged for kb vs mb) More I read here the more I get confused... Warning Gallery Category Image Path is not writable! C:/Inetpub/wwwroot/smfforfree3/Gallery/animalchatters/catimgs what does this mean

25mb total - not per person.
I don't use icq/msn/yahoo nor any other messenger program
The amounts I really cannot advise you on. That is something you neeed to figure out given the size of your forum (your membership) and what sizes you want to set them to.
Where are you getting tthat error msg? What are you doing when it happens? Did it happen only once or does it happen every time you do the same thing?
