Sorry, will come out with a version for downloading a program.
If you do not wish to download a program, go here.

Definition of transparency:
In optics, transparency is the material property of allowing light to pass through. In mineralogy, another term for this property is diaphaneity. The opposite property is opacity(commonly opaque). Transparent materials are clear: they can be seen through. Translucent materials allow light to pass through them only diffusely: they cannot be seen through.

From Wikipedia, The Free Encyclopedia

In which means, opaque is the exact opposite of transparent.

What a transparent image looks like:

What an opaque image looks like:
(quoted so that you can see the difference)

First you will have to obviously find the correct image. After that, copy the whole image, and do not paste it anywhere just yet. Next, you will have to save it as a .GIF file. Click "save as" and then go down to the bottom. There will be a line that you can choose the file types.

You will then get a prompt, and click yes:

Your image probably will be distorted now, but don't worry. You were told to copy the image for a reason. Hit Ctrl+V(paste) and then save the file for the final time. You are now ready to host the image.

Go to GIFworks. In the second column (Method 2.), there is a button that says "Browse". Click that, and find the image that you just saved, in the .GIF format, not the .BMP format. After you have found the right image, click "Upload image".

By now, you should have been redirected to another page. Now, what you want to do it click "Transparify" under the edit section.

A popup window should come up when you click it. Now, just simply click the color you do not want to show (to be transparent). Now, right click the new image, select "Copy image location".

You need to follow this next step if you want your image to stay.

Processed images are erased from the GIFWorks server every 24 hours.
Yes, that is very true. In order to save your image, you will have to go to ImageShack. From there, select "url" and paste the url (image location) you copied from before. Click upload.

Go to the very bottom and it will say "Direct link to image". Copy the link that you are given. Now, start editing a post or start a new post and click the image button, while having the link selected.

There, you now have your image. Below is a sample code:
Code:
[img]http://img223.imageshack.us/img223/8374/imagemv7.png[/img]

To make it work, you DEFINITELY need the tags:
Code:
[img][/img]

Congratulations, you have your transparent image!!

Instead of using the GIF format which also degrades the quality of the image during saving, try saving it as a PNG image which will keep the original quality of the image as well as support transparency.

Very nice guide though, will help a lot of people Wink
