Im not sure if anyone new this but i just figured it out. You can use the fading news box on smfforfree.

1. Go to admin -> Current theme -> Settings then put a check in "Show news fader on board index"

2. To make it fade you can add more news topics. Go to admin-> Edit Forum News then click "click here to add another item."

Tada! You now have a fading news box on your forums. Just figured this out. Sorry if most people already new this.
