Never tried this quite frankly, but give http://www.domainlagoon.com/ a try? I have heard that it is okay.

co.cc Would work with SMFForFree, as it is a redirecting service. (like .tk) But you wouldn't use it through the domain manager.

Co.cc isn't a real domain extension.
.CC is.

Someone bought http://www.co.cc/

What looks like a domain name (www.website.co.cc) is actually a subdomain of co.cc.
