Every week I see people posting in General Support, about their forums being hacked. Personal wars rage on these topics. SMF For Free is always brought in to put out this wildfire and to give the original administrator his or her power power back. First off, your forums don't get hacked.

From Dictionary.com:

Quote
7.   Computers. to devise or modify (a computer program), usually skillfully.

When a forum is taken over, usually it is a rogue admin or someone finds/knows/you tell them your password, not someone going in and changing files.

These arguments are jamming up general support, and sometimes I see other questions going unnoticed. Forums keep being taken over, week after week, month after month.

Every story has a lesson to be learned. This story's lesson is that there always a lesson to be learned, yet the one from all of these "Hacked" forums seems to be going unnoticed to part of the population of SMFForFree users.

What is the lesson? Just don't give out admin spots to people you don't know in real life and don't give out your password. Just don't do it.

i completely agree. If your forums are "hacked" it is most likely your fault. Either you told some one your password or you made it too easy to guess or you gave someone administration powers.

I agree with you both but, I don't think its entirely their fault. Everyone most learn their "lesson" their on way, by having it hppning to them and for a reason. Its just poor judgement on their part.

Consider this topic just another "word of warning" from those who have seen firsthand the implications of giving out power to those without responsibility.
