a shot box is like an online messanger.
see:

and how to get it:
How to create a shoutbox on your forum.
What to do:
  • creat an acount on www.myshoutbox.com
  • Get your code
  • Copy this code in the Footer
  • post your code in the HEREYOUROCODE place

Code: [Select]
<center>
<table width="150" border="0" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0" bgcolor="#000033">
<tr><td valign="top" bgcolor="#BB9977">&nbsp;</td></tr>
  <tr><td>
      <div align="center"><!-- BEGIN MYSHOUTBOX.COM CODE -->
<iframe src="http://HEREYOURCODE!.myshoutbox.com/" width="800" height="125" frameborder="1" allowTransparency="true"></iframe>
<!-- END MYSHOUTBOX.COM CODE-->      </div>
  </td></tr>  <tr><td height="14" bgcolor="#FFFFFF">&nbsp;</td></tr></table>

hope you like it.

DONT FORGET TO CHANGE THE http://HEREYOURCODE!.myshoutbox.com/

Shoutboxs can be found here.. you need to register for one, get your own code and post it in either your header/footer or a board description area.

     www.cbox.ws
     www.yellbox.com
     www.myshoutbox.com
     www.shoutmix.com
     www.shoutbox.us
     www.tag-board.com
     www.tagboards.tk
     www.tagboardsite.com/
     www.tagworld.com

Putting your shoutbox in the code kevin posted will work in your Header or Footer area and puts it inside a frame that matchs your forums style.      Putting it inside that code when you do so in a board description does not work well for all styles.    If it will not work well in yours then put only the shoutbox code that you get from them into the board description area.

What above said Lol.

Tell you this, cbox is the most common used but the best. It is probably the most fastest.

You'll get the code and you can put it in a board, sub board, header or footer. When board/subboard it shall need to go in description.

It's a bit, but it's not live. Perhaps the latet message was today, and tomorrow, they'd still see it.

so you mean it's late right?
They'll see the latest message until there will come a new one?

They will see a message for ever. It's somewhat like a mini forum.

  I wonder what is a shout box. Can anyone tell me?

Go here:  http://sibylstestsite.smfforfree3.com/index.php
the shoutbox you see there is cbox  www.cbox.ws

click the open/close shoutbox thing.
You'll see my test site shoutbox there.
Go ahead and type in it.. put your  name in.. type a message.
People can talk back and forth quickly, easily.
The messages all stay there unless you delete them.
Most all of the good shoutboxs have an admin "panel" you can login
to  where you can get rid of messages if you need to   (spammers, etc)
