Slow Slow Slow Forum loading or won't load at all (white screen)

I hate to sound like a broken record but I'm bringing this here again because my forum board is experiencing very slow loading times -- and has been for quite some time now.

Please know:

- I do appreciate and am grateful to SMF and all the support staff for assisting me over the past few years with my forum board.  I understand there is just one person mainly doing all a lot of things and am more than willing to be patient.  I also know that Support staff volunteer their time and I'm very grateful to everyone that helps out here. 

- I understand that the servers were being updated or worked on the past two weeks or so and each server took like 3-4 days to complete.   It's now well past those days.  Server stuff aside, this issue has been ongoing for a while even before the server backups.  I wouldn't even bring it here but this issue has just gotten out of hand and it's now simply just frustrating to our members.  Beyond frustrating. 

- I understand that sometimes when a few support people from here have been gracious enough to "check" on my forum when I've mentioned this issue -- and inevitably, when they go to check, they report my forum board is loading just fine and it must be my settings, my pictures or images or some other random reason.  Please, while I appreciate that when you go to check on my board and it loads for you perfectly fine for that moment, I am telling you that this has been a constant and ongoing issue for a while now.  If this were merely happening to a few members, I wouldn't be here saying anything.  But this is a forum-wide experience now for the majority (if not all?) my members.


Many times, members give up, defeated by the slow loading -- if it loads at all.  Many times, the page simply hangs and hangs and then it's white.  Or it takes second or third attempts to refresh the screen or post. 

Please, help me here.  Please.

I need to know when it is happening. I have two maintenance tasks that happen twice day. I can make them shorter but I am mainly working on getting backups to go faster than before that's my current goal.

CeCe my thoughts exactly and yes, thanks to the SMF staff that works so hard to make our forums what they are but we are having the same exact problems you are having and have been having these problems for days now. Our members are getting very frustrated and some haven't been on our board for days because of this.

  This is very odd. It has been like a snail all day and then it was good and then back to being slow like a snail. I just went to our forum and it was running fine. I don't know what to make of it.

I just haven't seen it when ever I check on it. I move some maintenance tasks to around 1am CST so that may help.
