Private Boards by Membergroup Question
« on: June 14, 2014, 03:06:51 pm »
I have a category with several boards that are set up so that members with 100 posts can see and participate within them..

I use to have the member group set to 50 posts.. But as a few new forum members started to creep up towards the 50, I had to bump it to 100 as we did not want them to be able and have access.

Now a couple of other members are creeping up towards the 100 post mark, and we just do not really want them to have access...

Is there another way to set the settings so that I do not have to keep bumping the amount of posts required just for the sake of keeping some members out ?  I am now looking at having to increase the post count to 150/200 just to keep them from having access.

Just seems like there may be an easier way to simply let what ever members I want into the private boards besides post count. ..

I would just create a new member group assign people who you want access that membergroup and give access to only that membergroup to the board.

I hope you will walk through this with me SMF..

First step.. Creating the new membergroup..

When creating the new membergroup, there are a couple options via drop down menus ..

I am assuming by type.. Standard or restrictive.. Which one ?

Then I suppose also want to check each box for which boards will be a part of the new membergroup, correct ?

Just to check..

If I only check the private boards, will the members who are listed within the new membergroup be able to view all the regular public boards as well ?
