Grr it's happening again :(
« on: June 14, 2009, 02:59:34 pm »
Whenever I try to send a message it goes to this error:

Your session timed out while posting. Please try to re-submit your message.
No subject was filled in.
The message body was left empty.
No recipients specified.

It does this when I try searching in the search box. It says:

Did you forget to put something to search for?

And I know that when this happens, you cannot log in. Because it doesn't recognize that you have set your username and password in the blocks. So it doesn't know you logged in...

Why is this happening?

Session Timeouts can happen for various reasons.
If you tried to do those things after sitting idle for some time it could happen.

Have you gone to Admin > Forum Settings > Feature Configuration
Check this setting:   Seconds before an unused session timeout
Suggested is 2400 or higher
I always kept it at 2880 and normally had no issues.

Attached:  My settings on that page

I wasn't idle... I was trying to reply to a new message I had...

And I can't access the Admin Panel because it doesn't know I entered my password. Just takes me back to the login box :/

NOTE I went to my test forum (also on server 1) and it works fine. So it's not a server wide issue :P

Session time outs happen when you get ready to post, and then do something else. Also, if there is extreme lag, it may cause a session time out because the time expired while the .post was registering onto the topic

That wouldn't have anything to do with a session timeout.

It happened with anything I typed in. Whether I was trying to post, sending a message, or searching something in the searchbox it didn't recognize that I had typed something.

It's the 2nd time it's happened... if it happens again I will let you all know :)

Sorry, forgot to add the last part. When you go and do something else, like watch a video, start a playlist, etc. , it may cause a session time out if you don't do it fast enough.
