Forum Url: http://timeout.smfforfree4.com
I know that the "new" icon should be enough but I really like when the threads that have been posted on turn bold or highlighted or somehow changed so that it's really obvious what threads have been posted to since I was last there. If there was a code for that it would be awesome!

You have several options actually.
At the top of the forum when you are logged in there are two links:
Show unread posts since last visit.
Show new replies to your posts.
Using either of them will show you a list of the threads that have new posts since your last visit.

Also.   When you click on a board that has new posts in it you get to a page that lists the threads in that board.   There is a "new" icon that looks like this  for every thread that has a new post in it.

The active and visited link colors are set in the css.
You "could" edit the css and change the color of one of them OR change one of them to bold so that it stands out more.
That will however change them in places you may not want it to so I can't tell you its a perfect option.
To do so you would go to Admin > Manage Styles
Since you are using the Default style you would have to create a new style.
Click the Create  link.   Type in a name for the style.  Go to the bottom of the page and click Create Style.
Click the Modify Style link.
Choose the style you just created.
Click the pick style button.
Go to the bottom of the page where the css is.
Look for this section  (its at the top of the css)
Change the font color code for either the a:link or v:link to a color you want then click Modify Style at the bottom of the page.
Choose your new style and check it out to see if it is what you want.
If you arent happy with it just choose the default style again as your style.

If you want to use the existing font color but make it bold add:   font-weight: bold;  to either the a:link or v:link  (right under text-decoration:  none; ) and see how it works for ya.

Code:
/* Normal, standard links. */
a:link
{
    color: #476C8E;
   text-decoration: none;
}

a:visited
{
    color: #476C8E;
    text-decoration: none;
}

Thanks, I am going to try the bold option and see how it works out. I know about all the other ways to see new posts but I am trained to look for bold for some reason. Too long on another type of forum I suppose. Thanks so much!

Okay I gave something a shot.
If you are wanting the new thread titles to be bold when you click on a board and have the list of threads use this css.    I tested it and it does that.  Keep in mind that its gonna do links bold in some other places on your forum as well but you can always go back to the default you have now if you dont like it.

Code:

/* Normal, standard links. */
a:link
{
color: #476C8E;
text-decoration: none;
}
a:visited
{
color: #476C8E;
text-decoration: none;
}
a:hover
{
color: #476C8E;
text-decoration: underline;
}

/* Navigation links - for the link tree. */
.nav, .nav:link, .nav:visited
{
color: #000000;
text-decoration: none;
}
