every 5 mins this happens to me.. when im either making a code or adding one .. please help  Cheesy

the code error

It could be the code your adding if your trying to add one of the Simple Machines codes. If it stops happening when you remove the code, then the code itself is what is causing the issue.

hmm yea cuz im trying to use a code to open server settings and then i can edit all the portal so i can make a custom one.

If your trying to do that on your SMF For Free forum, thats why your getting an error. You dont have access to the server files. Only SMF does. You also will not be able to install a custom portal on your site. Only SMF can make those kinds of installations.

The difference between our forums and the SImple Machines forums is that SMF hosts all our forums on his servers so he is the only one that has that type of access. People that run Simple Machines forums, download the software from here: www.simplemachines.org and installs it on their own server. They have all the database files so they can pretty much do anything totheir forum that they want because they have total control over it. We only have limited control.

The css code for our forums is alot different from the Simple Machines forums so the same code will not work for both. Theirs has what ours has, and a whole lot more. If you create a theme (they use themes we use stylesheets), for the Simple Machines forum, you will have to condense it down to the css code that works on our forums.

but this a custom stylesheet and it loads everything from my site nothing is uploaded from a directory like /image/lol.png

nothing like that its just from pure url so it will work on both i have tried it. It works on my smfforfree and my smf 2.0

All of the stylesheets are custom that we use. If it wasnt for people making them, we wouldnt have any.  Wink

What I am saying is, the themes that you see on the Simple Machines website are also custom (people have to make those too) but they are customized for "their forums". Those have to be mimicked using the css we use or they wont work on ours - just like our css wont work on theirs because their forums have more customized areas on them.

Example being the script you posted with "logostrip" here:

We dont have that on our forums but they do, which is why the code wont work on ours. Its the same with the css code that they use. There are areas of it that we dont have on our forums so you have to condense theirs down and change it accordingly so it will work on ours.

Right, the css code you posted works for the SMF For Free forums just fine. Thats how our code is worded. What I am saying is, the themes that are on the Simple Machines site cannot be used on ours until the code is condensed down and mimicked to match ours.

Ok I was gonna send you the css's in pm but it wont let me put all that in one post..lol.

This is what the css code for a theme that is for a Simple Machines forums looks like (it will vary depending on image codes, etc, but its close). I downloaded one so I could try and mimick it for my forum..lol

Some of the areas may look similar to ours but the css code is set up entirely different from ours. Stuff like ".menu" that they have on theirs - we dont have that. "a.subPro-link", we dont have that either. In some cases they just call an area something different than what we do but it means the same area. In that case, you can just simply insert the color/image you need and it will be fine. In others, there are areas that they have that we do not have so you have to remove that code all together - for example: They have a "windowbg4" area. We dont.
